Almighty God, who raised up your servants John and Charles Wesley, to proclaim anew the gift of redemption and the life of holiness; pour out upon us the gift of your Holy Spirit, that we may honour you in word and sacrament and serve you in the needs of our neighbour; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Methodist Sacramental Fellowship exists to affirm the catholic and universal tradition of Christianity within Methodism. It also seeks to promote the sacramental faith and practice which John and Charles Wesley drew from scripture.
The Methodist Sacramental Fellowship (MSF) encourages a pattern of Christian discipleship rooted in Holy Communion. We believe this enables men and women to live creatively and gratefully in God's world. In the eucharist we are sent out to share in the mission of the Triune God to a suffering world. This eucharistic way of life inspires us to work and pray for a church that is diverse, hospitable and inclusive. The MSF is committed to unity with other Christians in life and worship and in a common programme for justice and peace.
Members of the MSF commit themselves:
To affirm within Methodism a catholic Christianity rooted in the doctrine of the Trinity.
To embody the insights of catholic Christianity in worship, education, service and evangelisation.
To work and pray for the visible unity of the Church.
Upon joining the Methodist Sacramental Fellowship, I pledge:
Membership of MSF is open to the clergy and laity of all traditions. We hold an annual conference over the Low Sunday weekend, together with regular regional events. MSF is run by a committee whose officers are elected at the annual conference. Our President is The Reverend Dr John Newton, a former President of the Conference, and the Chair is The Reverend Prebendary Norman Wallwork.
